YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS

Privacy Policy

Hi – Steve here. This page explains what personal information The 175 Project collects, why we collect it, and what your rights are. I’ve written it in plain English because privacy policies shouldn’t need a law degree to read. The short version: we collect only what we need to run your membership, we never sell your data, and you’re in control.

  1. Who We Are

The 175 Project is operated by Conscious Consultants Limted (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in the United Kingdom. We are the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it’s used.

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email us at team@175project.com.

  1. What Information We Collect

When you join as a member:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your account login details (your password is stored in encrypted form, we can never see it)
  • Your membership type (monthly or annual) and payment history

When you pay:

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers, we only receive confirmation of payment, the last four digits of your card, and billing information needed for our records.

When you sign up to our newsletter:

  • Your email address and your consent to receive emails from us

When you use the website:

  • Technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 7)

When you take part in the community:

  • Anything you choose to post or share in our community spaces, including our Facebook Group, is provided voluntarily by you

When you contact us:

  • Your name, contact details, and the contents of your message

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, as membership is for adults only.

  1. Who We Share Your Information With

We share data only with the services that help us run The 175 Project:

  • Stripe – payment processing (stripe.com/gb/privacy)
  • MemberPress – membership management on our website
  • ActiveCampaign – sending newsletters and member emails
  • IONOS – hosting the website
  • [ANALYTICS TOOL] – understanding how the website is used
  • Meta (Facebook) – if you join our Facebook Group, your activity there is also governed by Meta’s Privacy Policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy)

Each of these providers is only permitted to use your data to provide their service to us. We may also share information if required by law, or with professional advisers (like our accountant) under confidentiality.

  1. International Transfers

Some of our service providers (such as Stripe and some email platforms) are based in, or store data in, the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are protected by legally recognised safeguards, such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement, UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision (including the UK–US Data Bridge, where the provider is certified).

  1. How Long We Keep Your Information

  • Membership account data: for as long as you’re a member, then deleted or anonymised within [12] months of your membership ending
  • Financial records: 6 years, as required by UK tax law
  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe — every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link
  • Community posts: content you’ve posted in community spaces remains until you delete it or ask us to

  1. Cookies

Our website uses cookies small text files stored on your device to make the site work (for example, keeping you logged in to your member account), and, with your consent, to understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

Essential cookies are always on because the members’ area can’t function without them. Analytics cookies only run if you accept them via the cookie banner. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.

  1. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access – ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification – ask us to correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
  • Erasure – ask us to delete your data (sometimes called “the right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction – ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Portability – receive your data in a portable format
  • Objection – object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent – at any time, for anything based on consent (like the newsletter just hit unsubscribe)

To exercise any of these rights, email team@175project.com. We’ll respond within one month. There’s no charge, and you don’t need to give a reason.

If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 though we’d genuinely appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

  1. Keeping Your Data Safe

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, encrypted password storage, and limiting access to personal data to those who need it. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we take it seriously.

  1. Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and let members know by email. Minor tweaks (like updating a provider’s name) may happen without notice, so it’s worth checking back occasionally.
